Dinosaur Bar-B-Que - Syracuse
The Dinosaur Bar-B-Que began life in 1983 as a mobile concession stand using a 55-gallon drum cut in half. The idea was hatched by founder John Stage and his two partners at the Harley Rendezvous, a massive motorcycle gathering near Albany, N.Y. The three partners believed that bikers deserve a good plate of food and that the Dinosaur could provide it. For five years, the Dinosaur’s home was the road, where they served good bar-b-que at motorcycle shows, fairs, and festivals throughout the Northeast. Burned out from life on the road, the Dinosaur settled in 1988 in downtown Syracuse, N.Y., as a quick-service lunch/ dinner bar-b-que joint. In 1990, the restaurant tripled in size, adding a full bar, full-service dining and live music. Since then, Dinosaur has opened five additional locations: Rochester, NY (1998); Harlem, NY (2004); Troy, NY (2010); Brooklyn, NY (2013) and Buffalo, NY (2014). Our bar-b-que is nationally acclaimed. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has gained a reputation far and wide for serving some of the best BBQ in the country with a vibrant and lively setting. Our food and sauces have won honors in publications such as Women’s and Men’s Health Magazines and have been featured on various shows such as Food Network, Travel Channel, Good Morning America and ABC World News. Our spice rub and full line of specialty sauces are available throughout the country and in Europe and Japan. Our cookbook, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: An American Roadhouse, was voted as one of the best BBQ cookbooks by the National Association of BBQ.

Jake Hafner's Restaurant & Tavern
In 1970, Jake Hafner’s Restaurant & Tavern was built. It was run by their oldest son, Peter. In 1980, it was taken over by his brother, Tom, who is presently owner and operator with his wife, Cris, their son, Jake, and daughter, Mackenzie.

They also had a “vision.” They wanted the restaurant to be warm and inviting and the food to be unique and exceptional. It is rustic and charming, with a two-way fireplace that warms the dining room and the tavern. Each dining room booth has been personalized by local artists with theme murals. The lively sports bar is a great place to be with friends or make new friends, featuring twenty-five TVs and a 110-inch big-screen TV. Reserve the “Dog Bone,” a unique cocktail table, in honor of Tom’s constant companion, Indy, for special get-togethers! Complimentary internet service is also available to help make the most of your dining time.

Now, a little bit about our great food… It is prepared with only the freshest ingredients by our creative chefs under the watchful eye of long-standing chef Shamus Vincent. We can satisfy any craving! Seafood is always fresh, never frozen! Steaks are USDA Choice! Inventive pastas and our signature salads and soups are always a hit! In addition to our menu items, we also offer daily lunch and dinner specials.
